The star-like blossoms are white with rich purple spots, closely resembling a lily and are best appreciated up close.

Native to Japan, they make excellent additions to shady borders. They spread slowly and prefer moist soils. Can cope with dappled shade from tree canopies and looks pretty when planted alongside ferns, hostas and other woodland perennials.
