Pennisetum alopecuriodes is a clump forming, evergreen perennial grass with flat mid to dark green leaves. In mid summer to late autumn it bears flower spikelets that are green to dark purple. I love grasses and this is a great one for the middle of the border, not as tall as some but still bringing shape and movement to the garden.

They prefer moderately fertile, light well drained soils in full sun. Cut back early spring before the new growth appears.
