Panicum virgatum 'Squaw'

Panicum virgatum 'Squaw'

£5.00Price

Panicum virgatum 'Squaw' is a lovely tall, upright grass with narrow green leaves and chestnut brown flowers but it really livens up the garden during autumn months when its leaves turn an array of red / purple / orange.  I love this grass and have some planted under a purple leaved acer which is a great planting combination.

  • Common Name

    Switch Grass, Panic Grass

  • Height and Spread

    1.2 - 1.5m x 0.9m

  • Cultivation

This grass does well in full sun and not sitting too wet.  I have it in part shade at home, so we will see how it does, it is in full sun at the nursery and the autumn colours have been spectactular.

It is a deciduous grass, so cut it back early spring - Feb / Mar before the new growth start to appear
