Panicum virgatum 'Emerald Chief' is a tall upright deciduous grass.  It has bright green leaves during summer months turning a lovely golden yellow during autumn and winter - bringing interest and structure to the garden when other plants have disappeared.  It also bears sprays of pink flowers during the autumn.  Great addition to the garden

    Grow in full sun and moist but well drained soil.

    As it is a deciduous grass, the old leaves should be cut back to near ground level in late Feb - late Mar, before the new foliage starts to appear.

    Division can be done in mid spring
