Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote' is a great English Lavender that is fully hardy and well used to our climate. All you have to do is give it a lovely sunny, sheltered site in well drained soil, works well in containers too. It does so well in our gardens that the RHS have awarded it the RHS Award of Garden Merit for its performance in our gardens, and the Plants for Pollinators Award as it is loved by bees.

It is a small, evergreen shrub with lovely violet blue flowers and has the calming Lavender scent.  A really great plant for any garden that has lots of sun

  • Common Name

    English Lavender 'Hidcote'

  • Height and Spread

    0.75m x 0.60m

  • Cultivation

Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote' is like all Lavenders and needs a good sunny, sheltered spot in well drained soil.  Add plenty of grit when planting to help with drainage.

I cut back the flower spikes once they are over to give it a tidy up, into a nice mound and then again in April given it another trim to keep it tidy and prevent it from going leggy.  It is ok to go quite a bit back but always stay in green growth and dont trim into old wood.

Semi ripe cuttings can be taken in summer

  • Great For

Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote' is great for containers, lining paths as a hedge, cottage garden and flower borders, bee friendly gardens and coastal areas

  • Additional Information

RHS has awarded it the Award for Garden Merit and Plants for Pollinators Award
